Lymington lawyer nominated for solicitor of the year award

Fiona Heald has been nominated for ‘Solicitor of the Year (Private Practice)’, in this year’s prestigious Law Society Excellence Awards. This is the second year in a row that the Moore Blatch private client team has been recognised by the Law Society.

The Law Society Excellence Awards recognise the most outstanding legal practitioners in their field. Fiona is one of only ten lawyers nominated as Solicitor of the Year in a year that has seen a record number of nominations.

Fiona, Partner and head of the Court of Protection team at Moore Blatch, has over her 24-year career built up a formidable reputation as a champion for the rights of the elderly, by giving them a voice, ensuring they receive all the government assistance they should as well as protecting the elderly from being exposed to financial abuse.

Fiona advises elderly clients and their families on powers of attorney and Wills. This includes obtaining property and financial Court Orders to include gifting and IHT planning orders, Statutory Will applications, contested Lasting Power of Attorney cases and care fees planning.

Fiona’s drive as an advocate for the rights of the elderly means she regularly lectures on mental capacity, care fees, and Court of Protection issues to other lawyers, IFAs, discretionary fund managers, accountants and members of the public.

David Thompson, managing partner, Moore Blatch, said; “Fiona became a solicitor to help change people’s lives. She achieves this today by ensuring those looking after and caring for the elderly act in their best interests as well as by holding government organisations to account and giving the elderly a voice.”

Fiona will attend the award ceremony at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel, London on October 19th.
